Inner Conflicts that Trigger

All of us have had experiences when we react strongly to somebody’s behavior in a way that is more volatile than the situation might warrant.
While stark, here is a good example of someone’s trigger point, a strong, negative emotional reaction to something or someone. It is of value as an example because the pattern is vivid. It also offers a moral compass so that we can feel compassion and avoid the common pitfall of blaming the person as over-reacting.
Trauma and the Nervous System
I have a valiant client. Katherine carries brutal childhood sexual trauma that was not tended to, believed, or allowed to be spoken about in her family. A difficult combination that left crushing disempowerment and a PTSD that acts like a live wire through her central nervous system.
Not being able to speak of the truth, and even being punished emotionally if she tried, caused trauma to her throat chakra, the source of singing her own song, being heard, and speaking her truth.
Being taken advantage of when she was powerless and then not being believed traumatized her third chakra, the place of personal power in the world.
Since then, when these two issues combined and were present as a pattern in relationships, she’d feel triggered. She’d experience feelings of anger and even bouts of rage, although violence wasn’t part of the experience. In other words, the trigger wasn’t about the abuse, but how it was handled.
Opportunities to Heal
When we are triggered it offers us an opportunity to heal a trauma pattern in ourselves, and so it was here. In one case of Katherine being triggered, a person who was doing work for her took advantage of her financially, then refused an honest reckoning. In the other, a person in her circle acted on an untruth about her. Katherine couldn’t clear up the issue without extreme awkwardness for all. Both made her very angry and caused some bouts of feeling rage due to feeling paralyzed.
How to heal this? Time was spent on both the third and throat chakras, as they both needed strengthening. A need for a soul retrieval showed up in her throat chakra. Through this a part of her was returned that felt free to speak the truth. In her third there was disempowerment especially in the left side of her third chakra, the female side. I brought a lot of light into this area, returning empowerment to herself as a woman.
Clearing Traumas
The stresses causing such inner conflict were visibly connecting the two chakras. But as the healing began to clear the traumas, they were less locked in the conflict with each other.
Lastly, I asked to feel and find the PTSD that is triggered with this pattern. I found a source of traumatized energy, which I worked to neutralize. My hands could feel the hyperactivity of it. This was a relief for me, as I have had an eagle eye for Katherine’s PTSD from the beginning. She is so brave and so committed to her healing, I want to do everything I can to help.
